A budget should be a reflection of your life.Think of it as a cozy, well-maintained house for your money. The best budgets set you up for success. To stick to your budget, ditch the wish list and get realistic about how much money you’re likely to spend in any given category. https://www.everydollar.com/blog/steps-to-help-you-stick-to-your-budget

It's so easy to fall into the trap of spending on the"insignificant" things and ultimately, going way over your monthly budget. If you're a coffee addict and make a point of starting your day off with a coffee and a sandwich from the cafe downstairs, think about how much you're actually spending on that every month and consider including it in your monthly budget to get a more accurate overview

Some steps to consider including setting an auto draft so that when your salary comes in, the amount you want to save immediately goes into a savings account.

Also, consider getting rid of your credit card or cards! That's spending money you don't have or didn't budget for

All these little changes make a significant difference eventually

It is funny that you mentioned about coffee. Before getting married, getting a coffee and danish from Starbucks is my first order of the day. My wife then made me realize how much money I could save if I limit my Starbucks purchase. She manages our monthly budget and she continues to surprise me with what she can purchase using our monthly budget.

I can't not have a good cup of coffee ever day. My wife still reminds me to cut my unimportant purchases. I still have a long way to go. This is why my wife also manages our finances and has my bank card as well. With a baby on the way, this is the best move for us.

The spending breakdown in this article is quite interesting. Allocation for insurance is quite high. It is something that I want to consider now because it might help in my future finances.

I have adjusted my lifestyle so I can stick to a budget. Right now, I have my priorities and that is to save up for a home. I need to keep my eyes on the prize and that's great motivation for me. I don't spend on the useless stuff anymore.

I have a tendency to overspend on the insignificant stuff. I could never stick to a budget. I just might draw up all my expenses and cut down on them to save more money.

I break it all the time. In fact, I just broke it! It's hard to stick to a budget and this is why I am broke almost all the time.

Not all purchases happen on a predictable monthly schedule so it's hard to stick to an actual budget. A standard monthly budget simply doesn't account for such wild fluctuations in spending patterns.

Personal finance sites like Mint can help with this process. While it only allows you to set monthly budgets, not quarterly ones, it does have a"Goals" tool; while it's usually used for big purchases like vacations and cars, it can just as easily be re-purposed for quarterly expenses like holiday gifts and back-to-school spending.

I am single so I don't really have a set budget so sometimes I have to use my credit card to get by. I am trying to be more financially disciplined though.

I am a stickler for staying within the budget. I am hard even on my husband. We have to or else we'll have problems paying off our bills.

I would say 50/50. Haha I blow by budget whenever there's a shoe sale.

I often try to fit it within my budget. I hate using my credit card unless it's an emergency and even then, I prefer to still not use it.
