It is a good marketing ploy to get people to know about their charity. If a celebrity donates then many people would soon follow.

I agree that it attracts more donors and supporters if they use celebrities to promote their charities but of course the celebrities should not ask for payment in helping them too and they should really believe in the charity's goals.

There are celebrities who are really an advocate in helping the poor. Charities juts have to make sure that the celebrity they will choose to promote their program or fund raising even has the same value that the charity holds or else it will flop.
