No. I think that one should be given to the employees as a privilege. You can just give your employees the time when to use social media like during lunch breaks or every break time.

From employers' perspective it would be actually good to discipline the employees to stick on their tasks and not be distracted by browsing social medias like Facebook all day long.

Of course. They can be a distraction. They're paying you to work and not be on social media.

Our IT Department had to implement the blocking of other websites like FB, YouTube, and others that are not work related in our desktops. Well, they have the right to do that because I have observed that most of my co workers are always on social media, liking and even posting status which is obviously not right because it's still office hours.

It's totally fine with me. They have the right to do that. I have my phone and if I really need to go online and check out on something I can do it on my phone, not on my computer.

Yeah, banning it would benefit for both the company and your people. Productive people will give you a profitable business.

We don't have any access to social media sites in our office too. It really keeps the staff productive without being distracted by using their social media while doing their tasks. I can also attest that banning it makes me more focused on my job for I don't have any means to check on my Facebook or even Instagram on my computer.

We have free access on any sites in our work. It's okay to my boss since we are all performing good in our job.
