Barny and Katus and their two children Madog and Malinki live in a converted stable in Eden Valley, Cumbria. Disconnected from mains electric, sewage and water, the family say they enjoy"living more sustainably with the earth".

Good for them! Modern society is becoming more and more detached. Mum’s & Dad’s working all hours, babies in outsourced childcare, the elderly in care homes. We’re losing positive family attachment because government dictates our free will and lives. They wonder why the divorce rates keep rising and the dysfunctional family. Sad

Maybe good for the adults but not this day an age for the kids, they have to have a social life, when they do mix they won't have any idea what modern life is about.

Don’t earn money or pay tax or national insurance. Who pays for when they need a doctor or hospital. Sounds great but you need planning permission, this is uk not Some remote island. Life ain’t free. Or we would all be doing it.

We should all take a leaf out of their book, on living within our means, reducing our carbon footprint, recycling, reusing, living closer to nature, fair play, we are going plastic free, reducing our waste, waiting for a allotment plot for growing, we don't use central heating ,just a log burner but hopefully ,we can find more ways of going back to a simpler life.

Looks beautiful. I would love, if I was healthy enough, to live more focused on the now and on the really important things. I bet those kids love it
