Australians are working an average of six hours’ unpaid overtime a week, a total of $106bn of free work given to employers every year.

An Australia Institute survey of 1,459 people to mark the 10th anniversary of Go Home on Time Day, found Australia suffers from an epidemic of overwork while others complain of underemployment.

The survey suggests the rates of unpaid overtime are increasing, to an average of six hours’ unpaid work a week in 2018, up from 5.1 hours a week in 2017 and 4.6 hours in 2016.https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2018/nov/21/time-theft-australians-work-two-months-unpaid-overtime-a-year?CMP=soc_567&fbclid=IwAR0oyoUPuNES-pUO8yeQXirYRLKxNlc-rYIrJT8_uXYF4Ak3ehQYv9obttQ

I think that this kind of issue is not only existing in Australia. It is happening all over the world. Can we do something about it?

The power in the employer/employee relationship has always been in favour of the bosses, but the decline of unionism and more employer friendly legislation has eroded workers hard fought for pay, benefits and conditions. Productivity of Australian workers continues to grow while real wages stagnate and CEO's receive record payouts for their incompetence and corruption. Where is the Labor party in all this?

It’s not time theft...it’s wage theft.

We need to update industrial law, bring it into the 21st century and start protecting our citizens from exploitation.

The Industrial laws have been repealed! We don't even have a minimum working AGE in NSW anymore!! This Government has screwed us over so much
