Over the weekend of the 20th of January 2019, a young boy from Covington Catholic School was singled out as a video of him standing in front of and smiling at a Native American gentleman drumming during a protest went viral. Immediately, the young boy was called racist and disrespectful, while the Native American man was cast patronizingly as the victim.

However, as more videos were posted, it revealed that there was more to the event than what the media had initially reported. The Black Hebrew Israelites were present at the protests and they were the guilty party insulting the Native Americans at the Lincoln Memorial protests.

Overnight headlines changed from" Boys in 'Make America Great Again' Hats Mob Native Elder at Indigenous People's March" to" Fuller Picture Emerges of Viral Videos of Native American Man and Catholic Students." How had the boys been demilitarised overnight?

What does this reveal to us about the media? Has the new information changed our opinions about the incident?

This just proves how left the media is. It was just a knee-jerk reaction to something that looked vaguely racial.

Although the video releases the boys from more serious charges , it doesn't completely exonerate them.

I read that some of the boys were still being derogatory and had also harassed a group of girls.

But that's not the point. The point is that the media didn't do their jobs properly when it came to reporting. The boy, Nick Sandman, who stood in front of the Native American elder, Neil Phillips, is now receiving death threats because of that video, all because of reactionary media.

That may be the case but they still were in the wrong. They also used derogatory chants against them. One boy also did a tomahawk chop to Phillips!

Actually that was a school cheer. They were encouraged to do this instead of reacting with slurs.

Yes there were some videos showing the boys behaving in a derogatory manner. But the Black Hebrew Israelites were just as guilty.

I just can't believe how irresponsible the media was in this. Even the New York Times messed up.

So what if they messed up? They fixed their mistake didn't they? At least they followed up the story with more details instead of just leaving it.

But what about journalistic integrity? How are elite news groups going to convince us that they aren't purveying fake news?

I think everybody is taking this too seriously. The truth came out.
