The study showed that those who worked from home had increased productivity by 13.5 percent over those working in the office. There was higher job satisfaction and took shorter breaks and fewer sick days and took less time off.

Do you think working from home is more productive? Do you prefer to work at home or in the office and why?

I definitely agree! Most people are already stressed out with the daily work commute so if you remove that from the equation, people would have less things to complain about and just simply do the work.

If I had the chance to work from home, I would be working all the time. I don't have to be bothered with getting dressed, gossiping about random colleague. It would just be about work and getting things done.

I think that companies should allow their people to work from home. This would save the company on overhead cost and if it proves that your employees are more productive then you can eliminate employees going to the office completely.

Cutting out a commute can be both a huge morale booster and a huge time saver. Employees will also waste less money on gas or public transportation.

Employees are more productive working at home and that benefits businesses. They'll also incur less operating costs like transportation allowance.

I think you are limiting your thoughts by enforcing a conclusion to a research. Averagely 13.5% increase is indeed a good number to get a conclusion, however this distances you from an individual. Not everyone will be 13.5% more productive. I think that many people know how their employees are, and are good in managing human resources. Also the branch and working style of the company does affect the efficiency of the model. For example, an open office has major advantages for information sharing, someone who works at home has much less time to connect and share ideas between colleagues. Personally i think certain jobs/functions are indeed perfectly capable of working from home. However i am also very convinced that someone should atleast spend 1-2 days at the office.

Aside from saving on gas on telecommuting, it saves mother Earth too. Also, getting stuck on traffic causes anxiety and stress, which isn't good on health. This could be one effect of lesser sick days.

With all the communication technology available today, working from home shouldn't be hard to do. With clear rules and responsible workers, companies can definitely make this work.

I like holding impromptu meetings and having my team all in the office makes this easy. However, this didn't prevent me from allowing my staff to work from home. I made rules, used instant video messaging devices, have a dedicated monitor so I could see everyone, to make sure I can still hold impromptu meetings.

Everyone seems to be talking about work-life balance these days, and there’s no better way to improve the work-life balance of your employees than to let them work from home.

I think if you allow this, employees are more likely to stay on because this is such a great benefit that they won't get just anywhere.

You can be connected to the office every minute of every day if you want to, thanks to the Internet. The concept of working from home might have seemed outlandish 20 years ago, but this is the 21st century. You can find access to wifi almost anywhere, and tools like GoToMeeting and Skype make remote communication a breeze.

It's good that I get to work from home. Being away from the office lets me do more. It's a more relaxing vibe when I get to stay home. Less hassles of commuting.
